Change Team:
Games this weekend
by posted 02/02/2023

Hi everyone, the game times for Saturday have not changed, so our arrival time remains at 7:30 am!

GAMES THIS SATURDAY, FEB 4
Location: Naranja Park, Field 4 - Northeast Field
  • Arrival:  7:30 am
  • Game 1 - 8:30 am vs Ahwatukee A
  • Game 2 - 9:30 am vs Ahwatukee B
  • Game 3 - 10:30 am vs Higley
*NOTE from the coaches - not every player will play in every game.  With three games we'll have more time for everyone, so the coaches will plan accordingly to ensure all players have playtime in at least two of the games.

REMEMBER cups and mouthguards!

Friday Night - please ensure your player gets plenty of hydration on Friday and gets to bed early on Friday night.  7:30 am is a pretty early arrival time, but hey, at least we don't have to drive for 2 hours prior.

Snacks at games: We will have basic snacks and backup bottles of water and hydration powder at the games.

PHOTOS DURING GAMES - If anyone takes photos of players and/or games, please share some of your best ones with me.  We can share with the Social Media Coordiantor for the OV pages, and also may save them for a potential end of season slide show!

SNACKS/WATER - if anyone can donate a case of bottled water, please let me know.  Looking to get 3 or 4 cases to cover the next few weeks as backup for the players.
Also, we are looking to fill our snacks:  Fruit by the Foot and Trail Mix bags (both found at Costco) seem to be popular, as well as the Clif Mini Bars.  (Text or email me separately please if you are able to donate anything.)

Thanks to Michelle Schloss and Jackie McGuire for offering to bring some items already.

Join us Saturday night for the BOYS VS GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL GAME!
The Boys & Girls High School teams invite you to join us this coming Saturday evening for the Annual Guys vs. Gals Showdown! This family friendly community event is a fun opportunity for our high school athletes to come together for an evening of friendship and friendly competition, while raising awareness for our club and a bit of funding for our programs too.

Everyone is welcome--Please wear blue & gold to show your Oro Valley LAX pride!

Admission is by donation--we suggest $5/person but pay what you can--every donation will help us reach our goal of raising $1,000!

Food: The Blacktop Grill food truck will start taking orders at 5pm and we plan to also offer a few concession items (drinks & snacks) at the gate.

Raffle prizes, too!
______________________________________
Thanks everyone, see you Friday at practice and Saturday at the games!
Please let me know if you need any further information.

I-10 closures this weekend!
by posted 01/27/2023

Well, we talked about it at the Parent Meeting.... and here it is!  Looks like parts of I-10 will be closed this weekend, and the main part between the 202 Loop and the 60, which is on the direct path per Google Maps to Reach 11, will be closed starting at 10:00 am.    The backup from the closure may go further down into Chandler.

Please plan to either leave earlier or use an alternate route tomorrow.

Here is a link to the article and map showing closures.

(Thanks Jen Z for the heads up!)

Saturday Games Update
by posted 01/26/2023

14U Families,

Here is the final information for our games this Saturday.

LOCATION

  • Reach 11 Sports Complex

  • 2425 E Deer Valley Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85050

  • Approximately 2 hours from Naranja Park, but please check Google Maps and/or the ADOT site to be sure traffic is flowing and you don't run into unexpected slow downs or closure

GAMES

  • Arrival - 12:00 pm
  • Game 1 - 1:00 pm vs North Valley Predators - Field 14
  • Game 2 - 2:00 pm vs Cave Creek - Field 14

(Map of fields is attached.)

I will send a notice out via the Band App on where the team is set up once we arrive, but most likely we'll try to set up near Field 14 since both of our games are on that field, back to back.

Please remember:

  • Cup
  • Mouthguard
  • Sunscreen
  • Lunch before arrival
  • Good sleep and extra hydration on Friday and Friday night

Please be sure your player is fed before arrival.  We will have a small amount of basic snacks (granola bars, trail mix) and some bottles of water.  We will also have the hydration powder to add to water bottles if the players need it.

Please let me know if you have any questions around the games.

OTHER ITEMS

February 4 Games - we have tentative times that show morning games at Naranja Park, but I will wait a bit to post those as things may change over the weekend.

A special THANK YOU to Corey Wade and Scott Beatty for offering to help with the team photo organization.

Equipment - if your player needs updated equipment, please let us know.  Holes in gloves, loose elbow pads, etc. are not good for protection while playing.

Team Roster with player names and jersey numbers - Jen Zubieta will be posting soon to the Band app a list of our players and jersey numbers to help you cheer along during the game.  (Thanks Jen!)

Car Wash tickets - we sold them all for 14U - Thanks to everyone who purchased and supported!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Reminders; Request for help with photos
by posted 01/24/2023

Hello everyone,

TEAM PHOTO HELP NEEDED
I need a parent to help get the team photos organized.  It involves a few emails back and forth with parents, Doug and the photo company, and you'll need to be there on photo day to ensure a smooth process getting the kids in line, making sure their packets are turned in, etc.  That's it!  Please let me know if you can help.  I need to know in the next few days so I can put you in touch with Doug.

PLEASE RSVP for GAMES
If you have not already, please RSVP (Join or Decline) for the games on Saturday through the Band App.  It's important for the coaches to know so they can plan accordingly.

REMINDER
Parent Meeting tomorrow night.  Please arrive at 6:10 pm so the coaches can begin promplty at 6:15 pm.

Thanks everyone!
