Pics/Links, Photo Parent and HS Game
by posted 01/29/2023

Hello Warrior Families,

Hope you all were excited about our season opener.  Great opening weekend!

Yesterday's photo and video links are below.

Season has just officially started but we are already thinking of players gift ideas.    If we can pull it off, Ian's Dad has offered to make a the boys a "season magazine".  Super Cool idea!  To help this happen, Sean will be taking more close ups of each player but we also need a parent to go thru Sean's weekly link to pull out highlight pics.  While we have not done a magazine before, last years gift included a season picture so the volunteer photo parent created a folder for each player, stashing the best from each so they were easy to find when making the player gift.  Please let Kristi or I know if this is something you would be willing to take on.

Keep the emails/texts coming to Kristi and I about Monday Wall Ball, Frank mentioned in his email today.  It will start tomorrow.

This weekend's game will be at our home fields at Naranja Park.  Currently, 12U games are scheduled for 830a and 1030a but are still subject to change.  We will confirm later in the week.

Lastly-Below the pic/video links is an email from the club with info on a fun game to support the OVLAX high school teams.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Erin and Kristi

Wall Ball Mondays
by posted 01/29/2023

Parents,

Since we lost our Monday practices and it's starting to stay light later, the coaches are offering Wall Ball sessions on Monday's at JDK park.  We'll meet at the raquetball courts and cover a 30 minutes session from 5:30-6:00.  The wall ball drills will give the boys extra passing and catching reps and increase their level of play.  While these sessions are voluntary, they are highly encouraged.  Please let Erin and Kristi know if you are interested so we have an accurate head count on who will be attending.  We will start these Monday sessions tomorrow, 30 January.

Thanks for a great weekend!

V/R,

Coach Frank

Exciting times have arrived...Game timeEmoji

This Saturday's games are at Reach 11 Sport Complex 2425 E. Deer Valley, Dr 85050 at 9a and 11a.
  • Arrival time is 815a.  This is the most North we anticipate going this season so anticipate a ~2hr drive.
  • 9am Game with Glendale Vipers on field 16
  • 11a Game with Chandler Dogs on Field 17
  • Park & Field Picture below
  • Be sure to pack your player plenty of water and snacks.  This year we will not be providing team snacks and instead ask everyone to provide the for their own player.
RSVPs-Please look forward and mark RSVP for games inside the schedule either using the app (if it's working for you) or on the OVLAX website  http://www.orovalleylacrosse.org/
  • This information is critical in assisting the coaches create game plans.
  • The schedule is up to date on locations so you can go ahead and mark your attendance through the end of regulation season.  It's easy to change if something changes.  Thank you for doing this as it will save the coaches and team Moms from chasing RSVPs weekly.
  • **Side note, for practice attendance, please continue to message coaches or managers.  We have found that the RSVP function doesn't hold info for events no marked as games.
Needing Volunteers for 2 events-Please email us to let us know who can help!
  • Looking for a few parents to assist with painting field markings on the field.  Timing of need will depend on the condition of lines but time can be chosen by you.  I hear it only takes about 45mins, as long as we keep lines updated do it before we lose the existing ones.  If this sounds like something you can assist with, we will be getting a "painting the field 101" lesson today during the 2nd half of practice with Vince Pike (current 14u coach/parent).  Swing on by.
  • 2/15-Picture night for the teams and another easy but important volunteer need.  Looking for a parent or 2 to be the point person for our 12u team.  On the night of pictures, these volunteers would help coral our 12u team to the photographer, when they are called, and be sure all kids have their picture packet.
Thank you for the successful car wash fundraiser.  I only have 2x $8 exterior washed left.  Thank you for the support.  If someone wants grab the last 2 vouchers, let me know.  Today is the last day so I'll be turning everything back in tonight.

Please reach out to Kristi or I with any questions.  Go Warriors!

Opening Weekend
by posted 01/24/2023

Parents!

These last two weekends should have shown you all the hard work the boys have been putting in.  They are looking awesome!  I can’t wait for what we do this weekend at Reach.

Help me reiterate something to the kids.  I told them they get 3 seconds to get mad at themselves for a play that went awry.  Anything after that just disrespects themselves, the team, and the game.  Once those 3 seconds are over, we get back after it for the team.  They understood but if we join forces we are unstoppable at teaching this amazing sports lesson.

This weekend will be intense.  We have games at 9 and 11.  Expect an email from the team managers by tomorrow evening.  They will go over everything the boys need to be on time and successful this weekend.  Because of our early Tucson departure time Saturday morning, expect that I cut practice to 1 hour on Friday night.  Again, that will be in the manager email.

We have an amazing opening weekend in store.  Help the coaching staff make it epic for the boys.  With the work they have put in since October, they deserve it.  I can’t wait.

V/R,

Coach Frank
